The story is set in a village in independent India. Two childhood friends, Jeet and Vijay live in this village. Their friendship eventually blossoms into a love story. However, when Vijay’s brother Ratan returns from abroad and his ideas for advancement clash with those of Jeet and Vijay, a tense situation arises. Furthermore, with false authority, Ratan removes Vijay from the house and schemes with other villagers to foster his ideas and make them work. He also plans to marry Jeet and ruin the village. But he realizes his mistakes in the end and the story reaches a happy resolution.
